The 25th Screen Actors Guild Awards has arrived, which means Hollywood’s heavy hitters have yet another opportunity to don their finest threads. And boy, did they – Jane Fonda showed the rest how it was done, Emily Blunt slayed in statement pink, and Henry Golding stayed true to his name with his evening’s look. On the flip side… Rachel Brosnahan underwhelmed in lifeless grey, and Elisabeth Moss went more prom date than stellar actress. But don’t just take our word for it, see for yourself, in this SAG Awards edition, of style winners and losers…

Mandy Moore
Mandy continues her seemingly unstoppable fashion ascendance. In this strapless Jason Wu dress with a sizeable train, she looks quietly sophisticated, with the beaded neckline and the on-point makeup. We bow down.
Style Winner Getty ImagesEmily Blunt
Ms. Blunt is barely stepping a fashion foot wrong these days, and in this custom Michael Kors, she’s continuing the trend. The simple, shimmering pink column gown is brought to life by the sleeve details, and a slicked back 'do and soft makeup are the perfect complements.
Style WinnerGetty ImagesAlison Brie
Never one to shy away from a fashion risk, Alison steps out with what look like wings in Miu Miu. Somehow, the combination of strapless dress, accompanying neck choker, and very simple hair, works, creating a dramatic look.
Style Winner Getty ImagesConstance Wu
Constance tends to keep it simple and safe, and this evening’s Oscar de la Renta gown is typical of what we’ve come to expect from her. It’s a little dull, but, the brooch, armband, and jewellery bring just enough detail to bring the look some sparkle.
Style Winner Getty ImagesElisabeth Moss
Oh, Elisabeth. Who told you this Monique Lhuillier dress was a good idea? It looks dated, and cumbersome. The lack of coordinating details, or neat hair, don’t help matters. A look we can’t behind, no matter much we want to.
Style LoserGetty ImagesMegan Mullally
As the evening’s host, Megan is looking surprisingly low-key in Alexander McQueen. The glitzy gold detail and eye-catching clutch are awards-worthy, but somehow the casual-looking hair and lack of colour elsewhere bring the whole look down a notch.
Style Loser Getty ImagesGemma Chan
Gemma stuns in custom Oscar de la Renta in the softest pink hue, with ruffles for everyone. The clever coordination of the black belted middle with simple Louboutin black heels creates a pleasing effect, as does the asymmetrical bodice and her soft up do. A class act.
Style Winner Getty ImagesLucy Boynton
We do love the layering of the polka-dot sheer dress with a floral maxi, but somehow this Erdem dress looks more fitting for an English spring garden party than an LA awards ceremony. Throw in the exaggerated shoulders, full-length sleeves, and high neck, and you have yourself a style misfire.
Style LoserGetty ImagesHenry Golding
Golding by name, gold by…. style? It’s great to see an actor take a fashion risk on the red carpet. The gold Tom Ford blazer is playful, eye-catching, and suits the actor perfectly. Pairing it with neutral colours was also a smart choice. Let’s hope there’s more where this came from in future.
Style Winner Getty ImagesAmy Adams
Looking sleek in all-black Celine, Amy brings the elegance but none of the drama, despite that thigh-high slit. The ruffles work, but a pop of colour would have done her no harm. Otherwise, a passable look with well-placed accessories and a good smoky eye.
Style Winner Getty ImagesJane Fonda
In this sumptuous scalloped Valentino design, Jane is practically putting most of the red carpet to shame. The colour oozes vitality, whilst the peep of gold shoe, soft wavy hair, and spot-on makeup are perfection.
Style WinnerGetty ImagesLady Gaga
In a relatively (by her standards) pared down Dior Haute Couture gown, Gaga is elegant with a touch of punk – just peep those slightly fringed edges, dark nails and lips, and metallic choker. She somehow brings it together with her platinum ‘do, and gold jewels. A perfect look.
Style WinnerGetty ImagesPatricia Clarkson
Could Patricia look any more queenly if she tried? In a showy Zuhair Murad number, she’s striking all the right fashion notes. The applique bodice in muted gold is intricate and regal, with fabulously dramatic sleeves to match the creamy, draping skirt. The loose updo and dark lip set it all off beautifully. One of her best looks to date.
Style WinnerGetty ImagesEmma Stone
We’re not sure what happened, but Emma took a major wrong turn in this stuffy Louis Vuitton ensemble. The pants fit badly, and the asymmetrical shirt looks more suited to an office party than an awards ceremony. She’s usually reliably stylish, it’s rare to see her get it so wrong, but gotten it wrong she has… sorry, Em.
Style LoserGetty ImagesRumer Willis
Now that’s more like it – in a dramatic floor-length number by Ong-Oaj Pairam, Rumer is shutting it down with that train, silver clutch, and severe bob. The jet black hair and smoky eyes set off such a bold-coloured dress, and it’s working a treat.
Style WinnerGetty ImagesLaura Harrier
Is there anything we don’t love about Laura’s neon-pink Loewe dress, complete with off-shoulder puffy sleeves? It’s playful, sophisticated, and formal enough for an evening on the red carpet. The bare neck was a good choice, as were those earrings and a bold lip to set it all off.
Style WinnerGetty ImagesMahershala Ali
We love to a man bring some panache to the red carpet, and Mahershala does not disappoint. The snazzy cream bowtie and shirt work well with the maroon suit – we’d prefer the pants and blazer matched completely, texture-wise, but no harm, no foul.
Style WinnerGetty ImagesRachel Brosnahan
There’s something not quite right here – in this fabric, either the colour should have been brighter to give it a lift, or the grey would have worked in something more formal like satin or metallic. As is, the grey tulle strapless Dior dress is overly-structured, dull, and lifeless. We want to say those statement Irene Neuwirth earrings redeem her, but not quite.
Style LoserGetty ImagesTimothée Chalamet
Playing it relatively simple, Timothée nonetheless brings his A-game in coordinating monochrome separates. The leather pants create a satisfying contrast to the classic black blazer, and that polka dot shirt is enough to keep things interesting.
Style Winner Getty ImagesYara Shahidi
The word that comes to mind with this Fendi Couture look is fierce. The soft tulle skirt, sheer sleeves, round and pants beneath, contrasted with the barely-there makeup create an other-worldly look. It’s refreshing on Yara – and we’re here for it.
