We didn’t want to accept it, but the end truly is (almost) here. In just 16 short days the last ever episode of The Big Bang Theory will air at 8 p.m. ET on CTV, bringing 12 seasons of geek culture to an end forever.

Please excuse the tears; they’re in free-fall now that the cast and crew officially shot the last episode in front of their live studio audience on Tuesday night. While the details are pretty scarce (we imagine everyone in attendance was forced to sign non-disclosure agreements so as to not spoil the ending for the millions of fans out there), some of the stars have shared snippets on social media.

Kaley Cuoco led the pack, naturally, with this sweet Instagram post, not only celebrating the final episode, but also wishing her co-stars Johnny Galecki and Kunal Nayyar a happy birthday.

Filming the end of an epic series run on the day you were born certainly lends itself to a huge celebration, but we image it was a mixed bag of emotions for this crew by the time they took their final curtain call.

Final group scene 💕 That’s a wrap 😭 @bigbangtheory_cbs

If you told us a dozen years ago that we would fall in love with this cast the way we have, we may have had to challenge you to a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock. Yet somehow, watching the endearing story of “geeks” who were too socially awkward to get girlfriends slowly transform into this ragtag group of fast-food-eating friends with actual relationships and wives has become a weekly highlight.

Knowing that in two more weeks we’re only going to have reruns has us feeling like it’s the Friends finale all over again. Obviously it feels that way for some of the stars too, because they’ve been posting emotional messages all over the place.

Seriously, there’s so much to love about this cast and crew. How many shows that have been on the air for 12 seasons can still boast a team of actors that love each other this much?

At the end of the day all good things have to come to an end. We know that. But knowing and accepting it are two different things. As much as we’ve had a full year to process the fact that The Big Bang Theory is ending, we’re still not quite there yet.

This set. Getting packed up. 😭

Seeing photographic evidence of the final taping, however? Let’s just say we’re one step closer to really knowing in our bones that this is almost over. For real.

Cue the Raj-sized waterworks y’all, because we need some Cinnamon snuggles and a Penny-sized glass of red… pronto.

The one-hour series finale of The Big Bang Theory airs Thursday, May 16 at 8 p.m. on CTV.
