We’ve had a few months to prepare, but we’re still not ready. The Big Bang Theory is coming to an end and we don’t know how to feel. There’ll be lots of laughter because, come on, it’s Big Bang! But we also know that we should have a jumbo-sized box of tissues on our laps because we expect loads of nostalgic and bittersweet moments as well. And while we don’t know what to expect, we now know when it’s all going to happen.
CBS announced Big Bang‘s final episode will air on May 16. That’s only two very short months away. And while Kaley Cuoco has had some time to gather herself, even giving sweet goodbye presents to her co-workers, she still doesn’t seem ready.
Ha, clearly her co-star, Johnny Galecki, knows her well (they dated, y’all!). He revealed a couple months back that the cast members have no idea what they’re going to do with Kaley and her “waterworks” during the last episode.
The finale will be one hour, fitting that they’ve saved the biggest for last. Co-creator Chuck Lorre told TVLine last month that “it will be two separate episodes” but they “will connect” and “have a through line.” Cuoco has already told us all how she wants it to end; who knows if the writers will give her — and the audience — that satisfaction.
Galecki put it best, though, summing up what he, Cuoco and the rest of the cast and crew have accomplished, and what still needs to be done.

273 episodes filmed. 26 days left on the Big Bang stage. 6 episodes to be filmed. 66 days until the 1 hour finale airs. All VERY surreal. Much ❤️ to all the fans. @bigbangtheory_cbs @therealjimparsons @kaleycuoco #simonhelberg @kunalkarmanayyar @themelissarauch @missmayim
Surreal, yes, but also quite the feat. Let’s enjoy it while it lasts.
