You know her, you love her, you’ve laughed with her, you’ve cried with her, and you can’t wait to see her again. Our beloved Bridget Jones is back in a big way. A really big way. Like, nine months big. We’ve known little about the movie up until now, just that Renee Zellweger‘s character would be pregnant, and Colin Firth and newbie-to-the-franchise Patrick Dempsey would be joining her.

Zellweger appears on Wednesday’s The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she debuted the new trailer and for all of us who loved the first two movies, this one looks to be in keeping with our Ms. Jones.

Bridget is all by herself once again, but now in her 40s, working as a top, albeit bumbly, news producer and, as she narrates, “maintaining good relationship with ex,” though her run-in with Mark Darcy is awkward, at best.

The real story comes when Bridget discovers she’s pregnant — and not sure who the father is. It could be Mark, but there’s also a dreamy new man in her life (Dempsey’s Jack Qwant), whom she meets in a very Cinderella moment. Well, a Bridget-y Cinderella moment, which involves her falling face-first into a pool of mud, obviously.

But it’s Emma Thompson‘s appearance as Bridget’s OB/GYN that’ll put a smile on your face. Not only because we didn’t know she would be in it (and Emma is always a pleasant surprise) but because seeing her reunite with her Nanny McPhee and Love Actually co-star, Firth, is simply a sight for sore eyes.

Bridget Jones’s Baby hits theatres on Sept. 16 and we can’t wait to see what she’s like when she’s not drinking.
