While Prince William, Duchess Kate, Prince George and Princess Charlotte have always had a place in Kensington Palace, their main family home has always been Anmer Hall in Norfolk. It was a wedding gift to Will and Kate from The Queen, whose Sandringham Estate is about 3 km from there. But as the Duke and Duchess take on more royal duties that require them to be in the city, London will be home base going forward.

Kensington Palace has issued a formal statement about the Cambridges’ plans, and for all those wanting them in London full-time, you just got your wish.

So with Prince William wrapping up his role with the East Anglia Air Ambulance this summer and the royal couple increasing their charity work and official work on behalf of The Queen, combined with George starting school in September and Charlotte’s future schooling, London makes the most sense.

For the most part, they got to live a quiet life in the country and now they’re buckling down, ready to delve deep into royal work. Now if they can keep up with the other royals, all the better.
