Sexy accents are subjective. European ones may be your thing, whether they’re Irish or Italian or French, or maybe some of that Nordic style. Skarsgård anyone?  Maybe South American accents make you swoon, like Brazilian or Argentinian. Antonio Banderas just opens his mouth and we die. And how about those Hemsworth brothers? Sure, they’re genetically blessed in the looks department, and then that Aussie accent adds exponentially to their charms (that’s just science).

Then there’s the Canadian accent. As Canadians, we’re inclined to say, “what Canadian accent??” but we’ll admit there probably is one. We just can’t hear it. Sorry. But just because we’re polite and apologize profusely doesn’t mean we don’t sound sexy. On the contrary, Canadians apparently sound hot as hell.

Lifestyle site Big 7 Travel polled their readers to find the world’s sexiest accents and Canada made the cut. Really! We ranked 13 out of 50, which is pretty damn good considering the rest of the planet seems to think we all have this Fargo-esque drawl and we’re all “aboot” the “eh.” Heck, Big 7’s description of our accent reads, “Not to be mistaken for American, Canadians speak with subtle vowels and lots of ‘eh.'” Hmm, okay, noted.

Surprisingly, Canada was just edged out by the Queen’s English, which we figured would’ve ranked higher. What isn’t surprising is which accents were tops on the list. Here are the others that made the Top 25.

1. Kiwi
2. South African
3. Irish
4. Italian
5. Australian
6. Scottish
7. French
8. Spanish
9. Southern United States
10. Brazilian Portuguese
11. Czech
12. Queen’s English
13. Canada
14. Hungarian
15. Ukrainian
16. Danish
17. Jamaican
18. Mancunian
19. Argentine
20. Zimbabwean
21. Filipino
22. Arabic
23. Turkish
24. Mexican
25. Vietnamese

Other accents that ranked lower on the list include Dutch, Austrian, Chinese, German, Pakistani, Thai and just making the cut, Croatian, which Big 7 called “the least popular Slavic accent.” Ouch.
