If you’re a hardcore Harry Potter fan, have nearly a million bucks lying around and are in the market for some property in Berkshire, England, then we’ve got the perfect house for you. It’s the place where we first met The Boy Who Lived, an 11-year-old who lived under the stairs, who had magical, mysterious powers he, at the time, didn’t understand. That’s right, the former on-screen home of the Dursleys can now be yours.
Sadly, 4 Privet Drive from Little Whingeing, Surrey, is actually a three-bedroom home in Martins Heron, Bracknell IRL. But that doesn’t make it any less special. Those looking for a three-bedroom pad with an updated kitchen and dinette area, a bright living room and a beautiful south-facing outdoor space don’t need a spell to get through the door. All you need is £475,000 (around $817,000 CAD or 95,000 Galleons for all the non-Muggles).
Keep in mind, HP fans, that it was only number four Privet Drive in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. From Chamber of Secrets onwards, it was replicated at the Warner Bros. studio. But that doesn’t make the home any less awesome.
According to the listing, the property is on a quiet cul-de-sac, is great for commuters, and “has recently undergone complete renovation to an extremely high standard.” It was last sold in May 2010 for £290,000 ($500,000), making the magical property worth £160,000 more.
Sounds like a pretty penny (gorgeous Galleon?), but if you have the means, go on and empty your Gringotts vault and put an offer in at the Dursley’s. Lucky for you, Vernon, Petunia and Dudley are nowhere to be found. No word, though, on how you’ll get your mail.
