Kim Kardashian is continuing to use her platform to help bring attention to the mass incarceration epidemic in the United States. In her latest effort, Kardashian has teamed up with the Oxygen Network for the two-hour documentary titled Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Report. The first trailer for the upcoming doc dropped on January 18 and shows Kardashian meeting with a handful of inmates as well as experts who have dedicated their lives to helping free those who have been given life sentences for non-violent first offences. Since beginning her efforts to reform the justice system, Kardashian has helped to free 17 inmates. In the first trailer for the doc, which is set to air April 5, great-grandmother Alice Marie Johnson is included, sharing that Kardashian “went to war for me.” Johnson was serving a life sentence plus 25 years for a non-violent offence when Kardashian became involved in her case and helped to successfully campaign for clemency for Johnson, securing her release after she'd served 21 years.
Kardashian appeared on a Television Critics' Association panel on Saturday along with The Justice Reports’ executive producers Vince DiPersio and Farnaz Farjam (Kardashian also acts as an executive producer on her new documentary) to talk more about her passion project.
