We are now less than one week away from the finale of Love Island (Monday-Sunday, 9pm on CTV) and that means it’s time for the final recoupling. But how will the couples declare their like for each other without awkwardly standing 10 feet apart and making a speech?Carrington had to choose between Laurel and Lakeyn, which included the difficult task of thinking about someone other than himself. Bennett had to decide which Islander was the most likely to unfriendzone him, and the rest of the guys got to finally relax now that they are in varying levels of committed relationships. Sadly, Thursday’s ceremony meant the exit of Julia and (almost) OG Islander Kierstan. We are already missing our feminist queen.

SCHEME SISTERS

The women were given a variety of tasks to secretly complete in order to win a prize for the Villa, giving viewers some of the funniest moments of the season. How can you tell you’ve lived with people a long time? Perfectly synchronized diving. They didn’t even have to practice! Lakeyn complained that she had to cuddle a guy in bed, even though she volunteered for the task. Instead of taking the opportunity to really make sparks fly with Carrington, she gave him an awkward side hug, forcing Carrington to describe it as “the worst hug ever.” Still, he dug it. “I mean, I’m about it,” said Carrington. “But I don’t know what she’s doing.” Same.

KIERSTAN + LAUREL

The Islanders may have joined the Villa to find romantic love, but friendship love has defined this season. One of the strongest relationships formed in season two is between Kierstan and Laurel and yes, Kierstan knows how it looks. “I know it’s weird that we lean on each other for these things because of us liking the same guy and all this stuff, but I honestly love her with all my heart,” said Kierstan. “I’ve never met someone so genuine.” It’s the friendship for us.

CALEB’S CLOCK

Tick tock, Caleb. There is officially less than one week left in the Villa and he has yet to ask Justine to officially be his queen (girlfriend), even though he “feels like the luckiest guy in the world.” We bet John Legend did not wait this long to ask Chrissy Teigen out.For real though, they got into some #deepchats and it seems Caleb is thiiis close to dropping the big L (everyone knows "I Care About You So Much" is the last station stop before "I Love You" on the relationship train). The teaser for the next episode looks pretty promising though—keep the faith #Jaleb Hive! [video_embed id='2042122']ICYMI: One heartbroken Islander is left in tears after a rogue kiss [/video_embed]

CARRINGTON’S CONUNDRUM

Does Carrington know the word conundrum? That guy continues to surprise us, so the answer is likely "yes." Carrington was torn between Laurel, who he describes as "perfect," and Lakeyn, who has turned his head. It was unclear all the way up to the recoupling who Carrington would choose, but while delivering a heartfelt speech, he acknowledged his shortcomings. “I’ve come to realize I put myself before others,” said Carrington. “I’m not proud of it but I do it because I want what’s perfect for me.” Who Carrington deems perfect for Carrington is Laurel. Yay! But Bennett picked Lakeyn, which keeps her in the Villa. Awkward. But as a viewer… yay.

THE FINAL COUPLES

It's not clear how many couples will go into the finale (it's historically been three) but here's how things stand after the last recoupling:
  • Cely and Johnny (duh)
  • Justine and Caleb (duh)
  • Moira and Calvin (déjà vu)
  • Laurel and Carrington
  • Lakeyn and Bennet
