What happens on Friday night in Las Vegas? A whole lot of sexy drama and that’s exactly what Love Island (Monday-Sunday, 9ET on CTV) delivered to wrap up the week. The inaugural recoupling ceremony took place and ended with Kaitlynn as the first Islander to roll her one tiny suitcase past the neon heart. Shockingly, Kaitlynn’s exit wasn’t the most shocking part of the night. The real drama started after the ceremony when Moira and Kierstan got texts from newbies Caleb and Calvin. Unshockingly, James and Carrington did not react well.

THE RECOUPLING

It all came down to Tre deciding who to pick for his trust fall. In the end, he decided that Justine would be the one to catch him and not just because she’s always in matching workout gear and probably has great form. Kaitlynn took the news like a champ, unlike Mackenzie, who immediately began crying. Um, what? Didn’t Mackenzie spend all of Thursday’s episode cheering for Team Justine? That was a fast crossing of the aisle.[video_embed id='2024435']ICYMI: Islanders pick sides as a recoupling ceremony looms [/video_embed]

UNHAPPY HOUR

The release of tension after Kaitlynn made her "not awkward at all" exit didn't last long with news coming almost immediately that two new Islanders would be stealing some of the girls for late-night dates. Geeky yet confident Caleb had his eye on Kierstan and invited her to join him in the lobby of a casino, where all romantic encounters take place. He didn’t want to know anything about what was happening in the villa or what Kierstan thought about Carrington. So, what did they talk about for an hour?
Former bug spray salesman Calvin was very interested in Moira, who was thiiis close to exterminating her relationship with James. But the promise of a new relationship quickly vanished when Calvin invited Kierstan on his second date of the night. For his second date, Caleb texted Rachel, a move that had Jeremiah fuming. Thankfully, he had James and Carrington to keep him company in the no-chill zone.

DEATH BY HOT GIRLS

On Friday’s episode, Tre seemed to forget that he was being pursued by two women and not the other way around. Instead of just getting in some squats to clear his head, Tre decided he would use his screen time to figuratively and literally flex by proving that he could bench press Kierstan and Cely at the same time. That couldn’t have been pleasant for the women or their butts. Wait, isn’t Tre a trainer? Nevermind, this was a brilliant move. He’s going to be booked for MONTHS.

KC AND NO NO

Love Island opened with tattoo aficionado James saying he would never tattoo a woman’s name on him and set the tone for a season full of good decisions. Then Johnny revealed he was writing a song for Cely. Even worse, he recruited Jeremiah for his terrible plan. By "terrible," we mean very sweet and sincere and thoughtful but also so very uncomfortable. The song is only 10 seconds, but it feels like it clocked in around the “Stairway To Heaven” mark.

JAMES MCUNCOOL

One day in the Love Island villa probably feels like several dates in the real world and for that reason, James is wondering why he and Moira haven’t had sex yet. He continues to question why she is being so shy and reserved since it’s no big deal to sleep with a stranger while sharing a room with 11 other people, plus night vision cameras, plus a TV camera crew, plus millions of people watching at home. Such a prude? We retract our earlier comments about James making good decisions.Watch new episodes of Love Island Monday-Sunday, 9pET on CTV.[video_embed id='2023767']BEFORE YOU GO: Former 'Islander' Eric Hall makes some steamy Season 2 predictions [/video_embed]
