Over 14 seasons, there are some pretty standard storylines we’ve come to expect from Grey’s Anatomy (premiering Wednesday, September 26 at 9 p.m. ET). The cutest kids have the worst diseases, the nice elderly people give the best advice, and any couple that arrives in the ER looking head over heels in love will die. Could be one half of the couple, could be both, but someone is gonna die. On the lighter side, Grey’s Anatomy also consistently delivers in hot doctors and steamy hospital hookups, two things that have us totally excited for the first trailer for Season 15. Plus, facial hair. Let’s break it down.
After Season 14 ended with the exit of April Kepner (Sarah Drew) and Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw), Season 15 will see the introduction of two new series regulars. The OC’s Chris Carmack will play the new orthopedic surgeon, a self-described ‘Ortho God.’ So, expect a jerk who probably turns out to have a heart of gold underneath his chiseled chest. Next is Alex Landi, who will play Dr. Nico Kim, the shows’ first gay male surgeon. We don’t know if he’ll be a jerk, but we do know he’s super cute.
BABY MAMA DRAMA
Kim Raver is back (yay!) as Teddy Altman, and as she revealed in the Season 14 finale, she’s pregnant–we assume with Owen’s ginger baby. Of course, this news comes on the heels of Owen and Amelia rekindling their relationship for the 1,304,209 time, but we’re okay with that. Find yourself a Henry 2.0, Teddy. It ain’t Owen. In the new trailer, Teddy confesses her secret to Maggie (Kelly McCreary), who will likely spend the two-hour premiere having an existential crisis over whether to tell Owen and Amelia about the baby, only to have them find out in some totally ridiculous way. We’re thinking something along the lines of Teddy getting morning sickness and throwing up into her patient’s open chest cavity while in the operating room.
PROBLEMATIC HOOK UPS
In the Season 14 finale, a very drunk Andrew DeLuca kissed a very sober Meredith Grey at Jo and Alex’s wedding. Drunks always tell the truth, right? So maybe DeLuca really does have feelings for Meredith, with the two shown in bed together in the new trailer. Or, more likely, Meredith is now having sex dreams about DeLuca and it’s distracting her at work. DeLuca used to date Meredith’s sister Maggie, making him off-limits to the always-loyal Meredith. Plus, DeLuca is a surgical resident and Meredith didn’t date residents even when she was one.
Speaking of DeLuca, we see the beard, we like the beard, we approve the beard.
The two-hour season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy airs Wednesday, September 26 at 9 p.m. ET on CTV and CTV GO.
