Many moviegoers were underwhelmed by The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, finding it to be just filler until the conclusion of the franchise would premiere a year later. It was darker and slower and there didn’t seem to be an obvious break in the book as to where Part 1 should end and Part 2 should begin. But it’s what it needed to be, you know. Every franchise has one, and Mockingjay Part 1 is Hunger Games‘ clunker.
With November right around the corner (a mere five months away, sorry for the reminder), Lionsgate released the teaser trailer and we get the first look at Katniss’ revolution as she is bent on revenge, determined to bring down President Snow.
Despite the second half of Mockingjay being all doom, gloom and tragedy, there are glimmers of happiness like Finnick and Annie’s wedding, Katniss and Peeta’s reconciliation and Katniss and Prim’s bittersweet embrace since we who’ve read the books know the girls’ fates.
We see a little of Commander Lyme (played by Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie) and speaking of GoT, there can never be too much Natalie Dormer. You know who there is little of, though? Gale. But hopefully Liam Hemsworth‘s Gale will make more of an impact in the next trailer.
The final instalment of the series hits theatres on Nov. 20. Excited yet?
