Yes, the new Terminator movie is really happening and you better believe it’s bigger (and more female) than ever. The first trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate dropped Thursday morning and it features not only a kick-ass Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) but a female terminator played by Canadian Mackenzie Davis. We also catch the first glimpse of Gabriel Luna as a more advanced terminator and a new Sarah-Connor-circa-1984 type human character played by Natalia Reyes.
In case you’re interested, that’s three female leading characters to one man (plus, The Arnold, of course).

For those who have been keeping score, this is technically the sixth movie in the Terminator franchise, but things aren’t actually that simple (it never is with time-traveling robots). Dark Fate actually takes place one day after Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which was the last one produced by James Cameron, who returned for six.
It’s unclear exactly how the timeline works and what’s happened in the past, present and future to reach this current iteration of the universe. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character returns, but he was pretty convincingly melted in Terminator 2 so we’re going to need some explanation for that at the very least.
What needs no explanation: putting strong women at the forefront of the franchise. From Linda Hamilton wielding a dang bazooka to Mackenzie Davis fighting off several men with her bare hands (and bare chest?), we’re seeing some serious #GirlPower.
And the internet is loving it.
Sarah Connor is a whole mood right now.
