The new trailer for Wonder Woman arrived this weekend, thanks to San Diego Comic Con and the verdict is in – we finally have a kickass female superhero movie.

Gal Gadot stars as the woman born from Zeus (that’s neat) with the golden Lariat of Hestia. Gadot’s Diana Prince made her first appearance earlier this year in Batman v Superman, which was really just a teaser for fans eagerly anticipating the full film starring the lean, mean, misogyny fighting machine (guilty!).

In the new trailer, the Princess of Themyscira finds Steve Trevor, played by Chris Pine, after he’s washed up on shore of Paradise Island, a man and all. Together, the two fight for peace during World War I, but on Diana’s terms. She does what she wants, and that doesn’t include taking minutes at Trevor’s meetings.

The new and improved Wonder Woman gets an upgrade from the bright red and blue costume Lynda Carter wore during the 1970s TV series. Gadot’s steel body armor will quickly be sought after by young women everywhere for the next few Halloweens, a costume you can expect to see alongside a number of Ghostbusters this October in celebration of the new all-female reboot.

First appearing in DC’s All-Star Comics in 1941, Wonder Woman turns 75 this year and is continuing her legacy of being a strong female role model for fans of all ages. In the new trailer, Wonder Woman battles groups of heavily armed men on her own, while other scenes show the women of Paradise Island riding into battle in a roaring shot that fills our Game of Thrones void.

In addition to the new Wonder Woman trailer, this weekend’s SDCC also included the release of the first trailer for The Justice League, reuniting Gadot with her Batman v Superman co-star Ben Affleck, who puts on his best Bruce Wayne voice once again. The Justice League will fly into theatres November 2017.

Wonder Woman hits theatres on June 2, 2017 and will be directed by Patty Jenkins. That’s right, just when we thought this movie couldn’t get any cooler, there’s a woman directing it. Boom.
