If you happen to live in Ottawa, you’ve likely heard the rumble of a giant Harley-Davidson convoy recently.

Odds are, those are the sounds of the Hells Angels entering the city to take part in an annual meeting that police have called the largest gathering of the notorious organization in Canadian history. This year’s meetup is so large because it also doubles as a celebration of the Ontario chapter’s 15th anniversary.

Oh, and many members were also released from jail recently. So there’s that.

Ottawans had been warned about the presence of the Hells Angels’ gang leading up to their arrival. Police are out in full force to make sure everyone stays in check and so far, there haven’t been any incidents. But while everyone predicted the thunderous roar of motorcycle engines along with an increased presence of beards and tattoos, members have been doing some things most people likely didn’t expect. Just ask gas station owner Monique Lacasse.

“They buy Slush Puppies by the dozen,” she said, adding that the members also “bought all our bacon.”

In addition to sucking down colourful, fruity kids drinks like there’s no tomorrow, members are also rumoured to be incredibly generous tippers.

“I think I’ve only ever served them once myself. Yeah, they tip pretty well,” a waitress at an unnamed restaurant says in the video above.

Members have also been spotted taking in the sights at Parliament Hill and tasting the food at Byward Market.

Gang members: They’re just like us!
