Tah-night on Love Island (all episodes available on CTV.ca) we said goodbye to the Islanders (and Matthew Hoffman–TEAR!!!) and crowned America’s Favourite Couple. After a month of night vision bedroom shots, recoupling ceremonies, an endless supply of bathing suits, dozens of grilled cheese sandwiches, and more "talks" than we could keep track of, Caleb and Justine were crowned America's King and Queen. Sorry, America’s Favourite Couple. The final night at the Villa featured the four couples slightly more "dressed up with no place to go" than usual and wearing their best formal wear. Looking like they were ready to say goodbye to Senior Year, the women stunned in gowns and the men rocked tuxes, which gave Calvin one last opportunity to complete his transition into a young Michael J. Fox. Leading into Wednesday’s finale, the Islanders were given full-sized notebooks to write their 60 second speeches, also know as their Declaration of Love or as we like to call them, Vows-Lite. The men and women spent their final day in the Villa separated while they completed their virtual-school English essay and got pampered even more than normal. Surprisingly, Carrington and Laurel did not use this opportunity to call out Cely and Johnny for trying to vote them off. How did this not come up?Finally, it was time for producers to exhaust what was left in this season’s massive candle budget to create a romantic setting for the couples to publicly state their feelings for their partner. Commitment ranged from "chasing moments" to preparing for a lifetime together, so at least there was a bit of variety.[video_embed id='2045869']ICYMI: The final four couples go on epic last dates and Jaleb drops those three little words [/video_embed]

LAUREL AND CARRINGTON

Even in the finale it’s still difficult to read Laurel and Carrington, but maybe that’s just because it’s difficult to read Carrington. Always. Laurel has been all-in since the beginning of their relationship and it appears that Carrington is now on her level. He knows the colour of her eyes and he’s ready for the pair to move in together once they start missing the other person. He really has gone from a boy to a man.

MOIRA AND CALVIN

Moira and Calvin have had one of the least dramatic bumpy roads on the way to the finale. They were both into each other, then both not into each other, then both into each other again. It’s still unclear what the future holds for their pair, but we do know that Calvin probably has a few more lines that rhyme with Miss Moira.

JOHNNY AND CELY

Though the tightest relationship in the Villa was probably "Celine" (Cely + Justine), Cely and Johnny were technically the only couple that presented a threat to Jaleb heading into the finale. Except, Johnny pretty much sealed their second-place finish with his actions at Casa Amor (the internet never forgets). We know, we know, it keeps being brought up! Sorry Johnny, what happens on reality TV gets dissected for weeks. Cely delivered a heartfelt and beautiful speech to Johnny and surprisingly, Johnny read his declaration instead of singing it. We never got the song!

JUSTINE AND CALEB

It was only a few weeks ago that Caleb and Justine (that’s Cely’s best friend!) seemed like an odd match, with Justine throwing her friendship with Tre (and Rachel) to the side to pursue Caleb. At the time, it didn’t seem like a smart move on Justine’s part. Never doubt the Queen. The pair have been a shining example of something we don't see nearly enough on TV—healthy and loving Black love. Caleb said he wanted to be an example for how Black men should treat their Queens. You did it, boo. Plus, having a couple to root for who never let us down has made Love Island the feel-good show of 2020. Jaleb for life. After being crowned the winners, Caleb was handed the $100,000 envelope and obviously split the money with Justine. We may not have seen an island, but we definitely saw love. In a post-show interview shared on Twitter, Justine said she wanted to give some of the money to her mom and use some for a date with Caleb. Caleb agreed and they revealed they're headed straight out of the Villa for a meal of milkshakes and cheesy bread. Before signing off, Caleb addressed the audience (that's us! heeey!) that voted for them."Our love is genuine; our love is authentic; our love is patient; our love is kind," he said. "There has been a lot of stuff going on in the world around us and our love is unapologetically Black so thank you, America, for loving our love." Now if we could just figure out how we’re going to survive without hearing Matthew Hoffman’s voice every night until the next season of Love Island (all episodes streaming on CTV.ca).[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Cat defends throne from invading puppies [/video_embed]
