There’s no denying that Ashley Graham is a gorgeous woman. She’s been featured in Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour, Elle, Latina and NYT‘s Style magazine and is stunning in every photo. Now, the plus-size model, who wears a size 16, is making history in Sports Illustrated‘s Swimsuit Issue. Graham will appear in an ad for online swimsuit retailer swimsuitsforall, the first of its kind in the special issue. But it isn’t Sports Illustrated that deserves the applause, it’s the movement.
It was just last year that swimsuitsforall’s “Sexy at Every Curve” campaign recreated the SI Swim cover with plus-size models, sparking a national conversation in support of curvy women feeling confident in their swimsuits — but they’re hoping to make a bigger splash this year with Graham’s ad.
And SI is just the beginning for swimsuitsforall and Graham. They are going full-out with their social media campaign, tagging #CurvesinBikinis to show their curvy girl pride.
“I know my curves are sexy and I want everyone else to know that theirs are too,” the model, 27, said in a statement about the campaign. “There is no reason to hide and every reason to flaunt.”
“Tastes and body types change over time and curves have never been more ‘in,’ says swimsuitsforall CEO and president Moshe Laniado. “There is no better way to celebrate and show off than by donning a bikini.”
