Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, The Muppet’s Christmas Carol, Fraggle Rock, Muppet Babies, and the rest of the gaggle of Muppet movies and TV specials have enriched lives over the past 50 years. (Pro-tip: be wary of anyone who doesn’t know and love the ‘Manana’ song. Facts.). And since modern has life been full of instability lately, The Muppets are back just in time with an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden (weekdays at 12:37ET on CTV) to remind us that, when the going gets tough, we can always get by with a little help from our furry friends. They all jumped in on a conference video-call to sing—with James and Reggie Watts—The Beatles classic, “With A Little Help From My Friends” (although they were definitely channeling the Joe Cocker version). The gang was all there: Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fonzie, Gonzo, Animal (on drums of course), the Swedish Chef, Beaker and even Walter. Their voices (and frankly, just their lovely, familiar Muppet faces) will uplift your soul and bring joy to your heart. We all need a little bit of that right now.
Please note the physical distancing, even amongst Muppets. They may not have functioning mouths or noses, but even they know not to touch their faces and keep their distance—still leading by example after all these years.Thankfully, that's not all we'll hear from The Muppets in the coming months. Their appearance on the show coincided with the drop of the trailer for their new show (yeah, another Muppets show) on Disney+. It won't fix the things that are wrong in the world, but if you're looking for a little childhood comfort, The Muppets have always got your back. The joyous rendition of The Beatles tune was preceded by something a little less comforting—an appearance by television’s most beloved curmudgeons with the razor sharp tongues, Statler and Waldorf.[video_embed id='1983706']RELATED: Why is Alex Trebek wearing a bedazzled hard hat?
