If you’ve ever flown with a child then you know the infinite stress that comes with it. We’re not talking about an overdue work project kind of stress here; we’re talking full-blown anxiety attack with a paper bag and a pill. Kids and babies are utterly unpredictable, and flying is stressful enough as it is without them.

So we can’t even imagine the sheer anxiety that 34-year-old Jessica Rudeen experienced when she had to fly with her three-year-old and her four-month-old children recently. Of course, because this is how things always seem to go at the airport, the mom was unable to nurse her baby during the airport security checks so that by the time she boarded the plane the babe was screaming to be fed.

Meanwhile, her three-year-old, who had been excited to fly, grew scared and she began screaming to be let off the plane.

Awful, right? Like, someone please get that mom a glass of wine.

Of course most people witnessing that kind of a situation would probably throw some headphones on and lament over their luck at being stuck flying with screaming babies. But not 51-year-old Todd Walker. Nope, on this particular day Walker became a saving grace to Rudeen and her children.

According to Rudeen, Walker stepped over and offered to hold the baby while Rudeen got her toddler all settled in. Then, while she nursed the baby, he occupied the toddler and the two of them became fast friends.

If you’re a mom you probably have tears in your eyes right about now, right? To drive the point home about how much Walker’s actions meant to her, Rudeen posted about the incident later on, on Facebook.

“I honestly thought we’d get kicked off the plane. So with two kids losing their minds, I was desperately trying to calm the situation,” she wrote. “During the flight, he colored and watched a movie with Caroline, he engaged in conversation and showed her all the things outside. By the end of the flight, he was Caroline’s best friend. I’m not sure if he caught the kiss she landed on his shoulder while they were looking out the window.”

Somehow, Walker and Rudeen also shared the next connecting flight, and because this guy is a freaking saint he also walked with the family and helped them to the next gate, and even changed his seat on the plane so that he could be in the same row as the family to help.

We repeat: saint.

Since Rudeen posted about the trip it’s gone viral, and as a result the mom was able to get back in contact with Walker; the pair have plans to meet up soon alongside Walker’s wife.

“This guy, Todd, showed me kindness and compassion that I’ve never known from another person. His wife, he said, had a similar experience when their two boys were young and a stranger showed her the same kindness,” Rudeen wrote. “I am blown away by God’s hand in this because we could have been placed next to anyone, but we were seated next to one of the nicest men I have ever met in my life.”

Consider our hearts warmed over. Now if only all experiences travelling with kids could be that fantastic.
