Move over stretchy pants and knitted sweaters. Sure, you’re fine with a stunning pair of boots, but when it comes to making the fall trend really work for you, you’ve kind of gone the way of the pumpkin spiced latte. As in, you were great at first, but now you’re everywhere. And we want something different.
Enter these three simple-to-pull-off outfits that will have you walking down the hiking trail like you’re on a runway in no time (well, depending on your footwear of course).
In the video above, the same girl pulls off all three looks with just a few subtle differences. Observe:
LOOK #1 — ROCKER CHIC
How to pull it off: match a nude lip with some sort of statement necklace and some ripped boyfriend jeans. Top it all off with a biker jacket and a plaid shirt, and you’re good to go.
Where to spend $$: Skimp on the necklace (like this inexpensive piece from H&M) and be sure to invest in a nicer jacket (get some tips here). After all, you’ll probably be pairing it with plenty more things over the next couple of months. As for the plaid shirt? Check out some other ways to incorporate it into your looks.
LOOK #2 — URBAN HIPSTER
How to pull it off: Look for one of this fall’s hot colours, “stormy grey,” and pair it with some black ripped jeans and a military jacket. A dark lip and pendant necklace polish off the look.
Where to spend $$: Once you know how to find the perfect fitted tee it will seem like a godsend. But that doesn’t mean you should necessarily splurge on one when there are so many inexpensive options out there. Instead, look for jeans that are flattering and fitted to your body type. If they happen to cost a couple of extra bucks well, hey — you’re worth it.
LOOK #3 — ‘70s GRUNGE
How to pull it off: Go for wavy hair and a fringed purse, then pull it all together with flared jeans and a suede jacket. Janis Joplin has nothing on you.
Where to spend $$: Purses come and go since they’re such an easy way to accessorize an outfit. As such, it’s probably wise not to spend too much on one (check out this ditty from Aldo). As for the suede jacket, be sure to hit up some thrift stores first before investing in something brand new — it will give the look a more authentic feel. Splurge on some good hair product, however, since that’s something you wear every day.
