‘Tis the season for busy weekends filled with holiday parties with friends and family. If you don’t know what to wear—or you’re stuck on what’s appropriate—stylist Erica Wark has a few ideas!

Here are five looks for five different holiday events.

Holiday house party

Get cozy for your holiday party at home while still looking festive by pairing a knit sweater with a sequin skirt. Not only will you look great at the party, but it’s super easy to re-wear both items. Pro tip: Monochromatic dressing (in this case, head-to-toe red) is a great way to look festive, just break the colours up with different textures.

Sick of wearing a dress shirt to events? Opt for a classic black turtleneck; it still elevates the look, but changes it up so you don’t feel bored (or uncomfortable). Velvet is a classic holiday staple, but try it in an unexpected colour (like mustard). Pair it with a classic black pant and you’re good to go!

Cocktail party

A jumpsuit is a great alternative to a dress or skirt – still party ready, but more covered up. Beading and sheer still makes it feel sexy while looking sophisticated. If you’re going to wear all black, make sure it has interest, like a great pair of statement blingy slingbacks.

A classic tux with a twist! The navy and black combination is the perfect year-round tuxedo.

Velvet isn’t just for the guys! This dress is from Sprout Collection which is the first in Canada to offer rent-able maternity and nursing clothing. The monthly service is cost-effective and sustainable, providing women access to an unlimited, personalized closet of maternity designer labels. Faux fur stoles are not only a great way to elevate a look, they can also keep your arms warm if need be. Add silver accessories to glam it up like baguette statement earrings and stackable rings, metallic clutch and silver stilettos.
