It’s no secret that when it comes to the Popes of times past, technology hasn’t always been exactly welcome. But in the days of Pope Francis, that’s definitely all changed.
As we already know, the religious man has called the Internet a “gift from God,” and has been quick to embrace what all the cool kids are doing these days: posting pictures online and posing for photos with adoring fans. (Seriously, this is probably the friendliest Pope we’ve ever seen.)
But now he’s taken it one step further, and suddenly launched Catholicism into the new era: The Pope has taken a selfie. And he posted it on Instagram for all to see.
Naturally this just makes us – and probably all 14,700-plus people who liked the photo – like Pope Francis even more.
We mean, just look at that face. That’s not the face of scolding Sunday school teachers of the past, but of a blessed future where religion doesn’t take itself too seriously. Or something like that. Either way, we’re down, and we hope to see more soon.
Now that’s putting the viral in the Vatican, don’t you think?
