As you know, Queen Elizabeth is 90 today. She’s lived quite the life and doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon, just how we like it. In honour of the huge milestone, Her Majesty posed for some portraits at Windsor Castle and instead of using one of the royal photographers she has on speed dial, she enlisted Annie Leibovitz for the stunning snaps.

There’s one of the Queen with her four dogs, Willow, Vulcan, Candy and Holly, on the steps of the East Terrace and East Garden and it’s all kinds of perfect. Because if there wasn’t a shot of the monarch with her corgis and dorgis, there may have been an uproar. And it’s kind of cool and different that it’s a grey, cloudy day and not a typical sunny one. It sets the mood of the entire shot, that she’s the one bright thing, the star, of that photo.

Then there’s the stunning photo of the Queen with her only daughter, Anne, the Princess Royal. Taken in the White Drawing Room at Windsor Castle, it just looks so casual and sweet, with Anne’s arm around the back of the couch and the way Elizabeth is kind of leaning against her. Just gorgeous.

And last but not least, in fact BEST EVER, Her Majesty posed with the youngest members of the royal family. There are her two grandchildren, James (love his hands in his pockets) and Louise, Prince Edward and Sophie‘s kids on the far left. And holding her great-grandmum’s handbag (we can’t even) is Mia Tindall, Zara and Mike Tindall‘s daughter.

Her other great-grandchildren are Princess Charlotte, on the Queen’s lap and her brother Prince George, along with Autumn and Peter Phillips‘ daughters, Savannah and Isla, who look so much alike. We can barely stand the cuteness of this shot and the beauty of the others.

Well done, dogs and kiddies, for being photo-ready (with the exception of Holly, the corgi who found something to distract her). And kudos, Ms. Leibovitz, for capturing these shots, and to the Queen, for being the most amazing subject ever.
