The shopping and buying app Poshmark is finally making its way to Canada in a new beta mode. A fan favourite of celebrities like Ashton Kutcher, DJ Khaled and Serena Williams (who was recently appointed to the company’s Board of Directors) and a staple among Instagram influencers, Poshmark assists in the buying and selling of new and gently worn clothing and accessories.
The free app’s ease of use for both buyers and sellers has been a huge factor in its continued success in the competitive and saturated e-commerce world. ‘Stylist Sellers’ can upload images of the item they want to sell straight from their phone, posting a description and price, with a $4 minimum for any item. They can then share the item to their network of other Poshmark users, with products ranging from department store items to high end couture.
When the item is purchased, the seller receives a prepaid, pre-addressed shipping label from Canada Post, which can be attached to any type of box. Buyers will cover the cost of shipping, which is set at a flat rate of $12.99.
Orders are then shipped and estimated to arrive between one and seven business days. Once the buyer accepts the item, Poshmark releases the payment to the seller. Buyers can make purchases with PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and credit cards. For their support, including tracking each shipment, Poshmark keeps 20 per cent of each sale.

The social commerce marketplace initially launched in the US in 2011 and has since sold $1 billion worth of clothes and accessories, with millions of sellers throughout the US posting and selling their new or gently worn items.
Poshmark COO John McDonald told Daily Hive that the company is excited to start work in Canada where they can begin “cultivating an engaged community of shoppers and sellers internationally for the first time… Whether you’re a shopper looking for amazing prices on fashion or a seller looking to clear out your closet and make some quick cash, Poshmark offers a one-stop destination, right from your phone,” says McDonald.
For many, Poshmark is a fun way to buy brand name items at a fraction of the price, but according to Poshmark founder Manish Chandra, many ‘Seller Stylists’ use the site as a main source of income, with some sellers on the site having made seven figures selling their goods online.

Meet @perdiemthrifts! She downloaded Poshmark back in 2014 and these are the sales she made over Memorial Day weekend! What’s her strategy? “Price high so I can send out really good Offer to Likers and drop prices to participate in CCO and MDD!” 💸 This helped her score her top sale: a pair of Dior Moon Boots that sold for $200. Way to go, #PoshBoss!
The company routinely throws Posh Party LIVE events where platform users can pay to attend Poshmark events and meet other sellers, learn selling tactics, and get closet consultations.
We’ll be downloading it, how about you?
