The trailer for Mariah Carey’s Christmas special will give you whiplash spotting all the celeb cameos

2020 has definitely been a time, so when Mariah Carey announced that she’s going to bless our holiday season with a festive special, we got the jingle bells ready and the chestnuts a’roasting. Now, we have our first glimpse of Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special with her new trailer that dropped today, and we cannot wait for December 4^th .

It starts off with comedian Tiffany Haddish (sporting her awesome new buzz cut) sitting in a big chair by a roaring fire, opening a story book. “I got a great story to tell you!” she says as the CGI scenery switches to a sleepy, snowy town. “T'was the night before Christmas, and 2020 had been rough. So Santa decided the season couldn't be merry... without the one and only Mariah Carey!”

The snowy town turns into the North Pole. We see a big honkin' Christmas tree with a huge star on top, hear Santa ho-ho-ho’ing in the distance and Mimi, like a vision, then appears in a sparkly dress. “This Christmas, we could all use a little magic.”

As her chart-topping “All I Want For Christmas Is You” plays, we get lightning-quick glimpses of what we can expect from the special (read: cameos from approximately every famous person Mariah Carey has ever come in contact with). Musical performances, dances, lots and lots of sparkly costumes, elaborate sets, everything is red and green and gold! Oh and please note the handsome elves carrying lots of wrapped gifts. We’ll have some of those, please and thank you.

In addition to Tiffany Haddish, Mimi's number one stan Billy Eichner also appears in the special along with Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Snoop Dogg, Jermaine Dupri, Misty Copeland (we spy her dancing ballet in the trailer!) and Mykal-Michelle Harris, who starred in last year’s remake of Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” music video. Variety is reporting that Hudson and Grande will be performing “Oh Santa!” with Carey during the special, and on top of that, a new music video will be released independently from the special. Even Mariah’s twins, Moroccan and Monroe, will make appearances.

The special will air December 4^th on AppleTV and a companion soundtrack album will be available on the same day via Apple Music.
