When Adweek unveiled the promotional stock photos of Vince Vaughn, Dave Franco and Tom Wilkinson, people thought it was genius. They’re all starring in the upcoming film Unfinished Business, and what sells “office teambuilding” better than a good ol’ stock photo of people engaging over a bar graph, right?
And, for the record, we thought it was pretty genius, too.
We’d imagined Vince, Dave and Tom whisked away to the offices of some suburban New Jersey accounting firm, stylist on hand with suits from a place called something like House of Suits or Suit Warehouse. They’d enter, meet the real-life accountants who’d pose with them, discuss Kim Kardashian between takes and make magic happen. Maybe there was a little on-set flirtation, maybe there wasn’t. We imagined there was at least the opportunity.
But we feel kind of duped, because there was no photoshoot. This is the handiwork of someone sitting in front of a laptop – a laptop that has Photoshop. It’s like pulling back the curtain and discovering that the great and powerful Oz isn’t so great and powerful after all.
And because we, too, have a laptop and Photoshop, we thought we’d use our own handiwork to pull back the curtain on this Hollywood charade.
1. Nope, Dave Franco didn’t even wear a generic suit.
2. Those two beautiful, well-to-do and racially diverse businesswomen? They never met Vince Vaughn. (Caption it!)
3. This one seemed so easy to not fake and yet…
We made these, but we owe it to Adweek for calling out this farce. You can see more proof of the misdeed right here.
