It’s rare to have a couple on Love Island (Monday-Sunday, 9pm on CTV) that's universally loved by all, but that is the power of Jaleb. Custine? Yeah, Jaleb. Justine and Caleb made their status as the new power couple official, announcing to everyone in the Villa that they are definitely and unequivocally "in like." Aside from Cely and Johnny (who reconciled at the end of the last episode), they are pretty much the only ones. In other news: the (one-night) honeymoon is over for Jalen and Mackenzie, which leaves the door open about three percent of the way for a Connor to recouple with Mackenzie. But probably not. But also maybe? So, you’re saying there’s a chance…?

THE LOVE SQUARE

Love triangles are so 2019. In 2020, there’s the love square. Jalen is worried that the old Mackenzie (aka the person who wants a boyfriend that pays attention to her 24/7) is coming back. Mackenzie is worried that she picked a guy who just isn’t that into her. Instead of listening to her friend’s advice, Mackenzie cries. Listening only to his friend’s advice, Jalen decides to cool things with Mackenzie and pursue Kierstan. As with most things in their relationship, these two need to meet somewhere in the middle.Kierstan was interested in Jalen, but he became significantly less hot once he decided to smack talk Mackenzie all over the Villa. For those keeping track, Kierstan stepped aside when Moira said she wanted to pursue Aaron and is now saying no to Jalen because of how he treated Mackenzie. Kierstan does not play when it comes to girl code. Queen! As for the possibility of Connor and Mackenzie getting back together, Connor told the guys he’s almost, totally, definitely, pretty sure he’s over Mackenzie. Most likely. “I’m 90... pretty much at a 100 percent,” said Connor. “These are just numbers coming out.” But as Caleb pointed out: “You’re an accountant, that means a lot to you!” So yeah, Mackenzie and Connor are getting back together.

CALEB AND JUSTINE KEEP THEIR LOVE ON TOP

Couple goals Caleb and Justine finally got to go on a date and did the unthinkable—they had a realistic talk about what their relationship would look like outside of the villa. It may be hot in the Las Vegas desert, but this date was so refreshing. Just two gorgeous, level-headed people talking about the logistics of dating someone who lives on the other side of the country. Wild!Justine said her parents were worried about her going on Love Island (more refreshments), but added, “I think they would really like you and like the decisions I’ve made.” Caleb also thinks his mom would like Justine. You gotta get in with mama. Meanwhile, Carrington is trying to figure out how to wash his underwear on a backpacking trip with Laurel, Moira and Aaron are having the "just friends" talk and Sher is choosing her red lipstick over a kiss with Calvin, so seeing Justine and Caleb in a happy and healthy place warms our heart. Since a lot of this episode was about percentages, 93 percent of Caleb and Justine’s success goes to them and seven percent is care of Cely’s pre-date hype skills.

THINGS THE ISLANDERS ACTUALLY SAID ABOUT THE CHALLENGE

The mega gross-out baby bird challenged returned this season on Love Island, which features the Islanders transferring food from one location to another via the male Islanders spitting it into their partner’s mouths. That’s a pretty sanitized way to describe what on TV looks like four minutes of pure disgustingness, especially during a pandemic. We can’t even imagine the smell IRL.As for things the Islander’s actually said about the challenge, let’s grab a fork and knife, then throw it on the floor and dig in mouth-first.
  • “There’s no way that’s going in my mouth.” -Laurel
  • “I didn’t mind having the balls in my mouth, but some were really big.” -Justine (yes, in front of Caleb)
  • “One of the meatballs was from the ground.” -Cely
  • “I liked the sensation.” -Mackenzie
  • “Ew.” -Everyone single person watching.
