So, it’s the beginning of a bright new year, and some magazine, in this case British GQ, released its annual list of hotties. And the top royal smoke show is not Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (or, as you may know her, Kate Middleton). And you’re probably thinking, but wait, why and how? Look at her:

But the answer is, this is a strict, boys-only affair. No ladies allowed, just the fellas. And it’s not all royals either, but one strapping blue-blood came out on top. And, it’s not Prince Harry. Don’t worry, he’s still hot, just not the hottest, according to GQ.

Then who is it? Well, it’s not William, Duke of Cambridge (better known as Will, or Prince William).

OMG, right? Then who the hell is it? It’s not Harry, it’s not William, and it’s not a write-in vote for Kate. That leaves, um… oh, it has to be super-hunk James Middleton. Except it isn’t, not even with that thick beard and those eyes.

Okay, we’ll tell you. This year’s most handsome royal on GQ’s list of the year’s most handsome men is… Prince Philip.

He came in 12th place, beating the only other royal on the list, Harry (he came in 38th place). He even beat Idris Elba, if you can believe it (he was 34th). The reason Philip was placed so highly was explained by the judges: “The Duke of Edinburgh embodies duty and decorum and comes across effortlessly in the way he dress,” John Ray, creative director of Dunhill, said in a statement.

Here’s to you, Philip. You’re 94, and hotter than ever.
