Last Sunday, 26-year-old Brie Larson took home the Academy Award for Best Actress, becoming the 12th youngest winner to claim the Oscar. Also nominated in her category were 21-year-old Saoirse Ronan and 25-year-old Jennifer Lawrence. In the Best Actor Category? Leonardo DiCaprio finally, at the tender age of 41, snagged the top prize. The youngest male actor nominated in the category was Eddie Redmayne, 34.

Something strange happens when you stack up the youngest Best Actress winners against their Best Actor counterparts: all but one of the youngest men are over thirty, while ALL of the youngest women winners are under thirty.
