On Wednesday’s Love Island  (Monday to Friday at 8 p.m. ET on CTV) our Love Boat hit some seriously rocky waves for the first time and most of them were thanks to Canadian Eric. Honestly, we can’t believe a group of strangers living in a villa with no actual food and tons of alcohol made it so long without more uncomfortable conversations. It kind of gives us hope for mankind.

THE KISSING GAME

Taking a page straight out of the UK Love Island playbook, Wednesday’s game had the boys lining up with headphones and blindfolds while the girls took turns kissing them, with the boys rating each kiss. The groups then swapped, with George voted as the best kisser for the boys and Kyra winning on the girl’s side. If the prize is a diagnosis of mono, then everyone is a winner.

Despite the obvious ploy to stir up drama by having each islander lock lips with literally everyone, this was the least dramatic part of the episode.

THE KYRA-ERIC-CASHEL TRIANGLE

We may be using the triangle term liberally since Cashel seems to only sort-of count but Kyra has made it clear that she is interested in Canadian Eric, douchey-vibe and all. We’re still waiting to see Canadian Eric’s fun side (or at least less-intense side), but he does have a tattoo of a sloth and a monkey in an astronaut suit, so he can’t be serious all the time.

Cashel is devastated that his own previous actions—including telling Kyra that he was going to pursue other girls—totally backfired when none of the other girls were interested in him. According to Cashel, things aren’t working with Kyra because she’s not opening up to him. According to anyone who has been watching the show, things aren’t working with Kyra because Cashel played himself. Also, guy can’t take a hint (read: can’t accept when a girl has said flat-out that she’s not interested in a romantic relationship).

THE BATTLE OF THE CURLS

Cashel and Canadian Eric spent a long time talking about how neither of them understands Kyra. We think. Honestly, we were distracted by their on-point curl game. It’s gotta be humid in Fiji, so what are these two using on their curls to keep them so bouncy? We want the tea on that.

THE TWIST

Out of the new Islanders, the viewers decided to save Kelsey and Canadian Eric. That left Ray and George and Marli and Aissata. The boys decided to save Aissata (Yamen!) and the girls picked Ray (Caro!). Now would be a great time for Marli to listen to a sad Luke Bryan song. As for George, we’ll miss his perfect teeth and abs and his personality that we did not get to know at all.

THAT AWKWARD MOMENT

We were thiiiiis close to witnessing a magical moment between Zac and Elizabeth when Zac ate a bug. It’s probably the most substantial meal he’s had since arriving at the villa.

WHO WE’RE SHIPPING

Ray is so apples for Caro and broke down in tears during the elimination before anyone’s name had even been announced. As Caro would say, that’s cahuuuuute.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Yamen’s freestyle is straight fire. Your boy has some bars!
