If you ever had childhood dreams of owning your very own town, you’re in luck.
Cal Nev Ari, a town located about 110 km south of Las Vegas, is now up for sale for $8 million U.S. (approx. $10.5M CAD). The property was originally listed in 2010 for $17 million, but the owner couldn’t find a buyer. Which means the town is now basically on sale for 50 per cent off.
Cal Nev Ari comes complete with its very own casino, restaurant, 10-room motel, airport, RV park and post office. But it also includes its own sewage system, utility company and deep water wells. The biggest drawback would be the absence of any paved roads, but as the town’s new owner, you could certainly change that.
Nancy Kidwell founded Cal Nev Ari in 1965 with her husband, and has owned it for 51 years. Since then, the population has grown to about 350 people. But ever since Kidwell’s second husband died in 2011, the bulk of the maintenance work has shifted over to her and she’s having trouble keeping up, CTV News reports.
The 520-acre property has plenty of develop-able land and is ripe for investment. And while the cost might seem steep, you could theoretically split the purchase between 100 people and each pay slightly more than $100,000. Then all you’d have to do is move into your very own town!
