It’s the movie that writes itself. A beautiful actor gets set up on a blind date with a handsome prince. They fall in love over their shared commitment to philanthropic endeavors. His family thinks she’s great. Her family like him. Well, her parents do. Throw in a few disgruntled half-sisters and ex-husbands to keep the movie interesting. Then less than two years later, the pair are engaged, and set to have the wedding of the year in May.

Of course, this is real life, if and only if you’re the star of a Hallmark movie or Meghan Markle. That’s it. Those are the only two options. For the rest of us it’s all make believe, so it’s no surprise, really, that Lifetime is set to make a film about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship. If that script isn’t written in less than one week, the writer should be fired.

Harry & Meghan: The Royal Love Story was announced at this week’s TCA press tour and will be directed by Menhaj Huda, who has previously worked on the E! series The Royals. So yeah, good fit.

Lifetime has yet to cast the two leads, but the film is slated for a May release to coincide with the pair’s actual wedding on May 19. Lifetime previously released the film William & Kate: The Movie only 11 days before Harry’s brother wed back in 2011.

Meghan and Harry’s romance has often been described as a ‘whirlwind,’ with the couple getting engaged after a year and a half of dating. Of course, the public has only known about the couple for the past year, so we’re hoping the Lifetime movie can uncover some details about the pair’s early months. We. Want. The. Scoop.

Here’s what we’re hoping to see in the upcoming Lifetime film Harry & Meghan: The Royal Love Story.

The Blind Date

Meghan and Harry famously met on a blind date after being set up by a mutual friend who has not been named. For the record, if we were that friend, we’d want to be named. And we’d want to be a bridesmaid, maybe a godparent, and we would definitely want to get some royalties out of this Lifetime movie.

Did the pair talk about their love of being involved with charities on their first date, or was it the more typical topics of discussion, like lying about how much they love outdoor activities and debating about the best Game of Thrones character?

The Toronto House

Meghan and Harry spent many of their first dates making dinner together and spending time in her house in Toronto, where Meghan filmed her series Suits. This setting lends itself perfectly to some really cheesy moments and we would expect nothing less from Lifetime. Fondue by the fireside? Cuddling with cookies on the couch? We want to see it all.

The Backlash

After going public with their romance, Meghan was subject to harassment and racist headlines by the British press. Things got so bad that Prince Harry released an official statement condemning the press, a move rarely seen by the subdued royal family.

The Trips

Prepare for the best green screens in Lifetime movie history! From Norway to Botswana, Jamaica to London, the pair have been jet setting since day one.

Meeting The Royals

Other than very polite responses in interviews about every being friendly, we don’t really know what happened when Meghan met the members of the Royal Family for the first time. But we’ll leave it up to Lifetime to imagine what that looked like.

The Secret Service Training

All Lifetime movies must have some element of danger and for this film, that means the security training Meghan will receive as a new member of the royal family. We expect some Jason Bourne-lite style training sessions with a gun, a fake kidnapper, and a safe room.

The Pre-Wedding Hoops

Planning for any wedding can be stressful, but ain’t no wedding like a royal wedding, because a royal wedding sounds like a huge pain. Before becoming a member of the Royal Family, Meghan will have to be baptized, become a British citizen, and give up her work with the UN to focus on charities approved by the Royal Family. This is all in addition to leaving behind her acting career, her home in Canada, and her beloved dogs. Hoops = Lifetime movie drama.
