Now more than ever before, people want to know what’s in the food they’re eating and where it came from. But what about the products we use, some of which we bust out on a daily basis?

BuzzFeed’s latest video wants to enlighten us, but perhaps some of these secrets are things you already know. Like, who doesn’t know Fruit Loops all taste the same regardless of colour? (OK, we might know it, but choose to ignore it.) But there are a bunch of other interesting tidbits we didn’t know a lick about. These secrets, lurking in the products we use all the time, include details of our potentially excessive Q-Tips use, Lysol’s original reason for existing, and where little baby carrots come from. (Hint: they’re not baby carrots at all.)

Now, excuse us while we play with a blowtorch and a bottle of Pepto-Bismol. Because despite the video’s warning, we’re totally going to try some of these at home.

Discover the secrets in the video, above.
