There is so much great television out there nowadays, isn’t there? No matter what you’re into there seems to be a show about it, thanks to this rich (and maybe a little vast), era of what some critics call #PeakTV.
But with the addition of each new show comes the cancellation of another. It’s what we like to think of as the great balance of TV life. So over the next month, as broadcasters announce a bunch of new shows they’re about to dedicate top dollars to, it’s also time to say farewell to some long-running favourites. As such, here’s a list of 18 TV shows (clocking in at two or more seasons) that are officially done after their 2017-18 seasons.

These 18 TV shows won’t be returning next year

Putting Jennifer Lopez on TV is basically a no-brainer, but pairing her with Ray Liotta for a cop drama was an instant recipe for success. That’s why it’s a little surprising the show is shutting down following it’s third summer season, but we’re sure Lopez already has other commitments.NBC![Crazy Ex-Girlfriend]()
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
It’s hard not to love Rachel Bloom and her Golden Globe winning role on this wacky series, which is probably why it’s stuck around as long as it has despite mediocre ratings. Well this fall is your last chance to tune in, as Girlfriend ends with its fourth and final season. The CW![The Middle]()
The Middle
Heck, we’re going to miss the heck out of The Hecks when this one wraps after nine seasons. We’ve watched the kids in this middle class family grow up, followed their parents through numerous trials and tribulations, and at the end of the day, they’ve always known how to make us laugh. ABC![Once Upon a Time]()
Once Upon a Time
This show captured all of our imaginations when Emma Swan first entered Storybrooke, even though many critics deemed it a bit of a gamble show. Sadly, seven seasons and numerous fairytale characters come-to-life later, and this classic battle of good versus evil is ending for good in May.ABC![Scandal]()
Scandal
White hats, gladiators and many large glasses of red wine later, Olivia Pope has become one of the most memorable TV characters of our time. But as they say, all good things must come to an end, and so Shonda Rhimes and co. shut down the show after seven seasons in April.ABC![Zoo]()
Zoo
We’ll forever remember this summer thriller (based on the novel by James Patterson) as the show that officially broke actor James Wolk’s show-killer curse. Others may remember it for its scary premise of wayward animals suddenly attacking humans across the globe. Either way, the third season was officially its last.CBS![New Girl]()
New Girl
Zooey Deschanel was the perfect excuse to coin the term “adorkable” after she debuted as the wide-eyed optimist Jess Day in this comedy. But seven seasons and lots of shenanigans with her male roommates and female best friend later, and this girl is ready to embark on new adventures. Fox![The Night Shift]()
The Night Shift
There are plenty of medical dramas out there, but this one stood out by showcasing the men and women tasked with roaming a busy hospital’s walls during that loathsome night shift. Now, four seasons later, the actors are all graduating to new gigs. NBC![The Librarians]()
The Librarians
It was always a gamble whether this artifact-hunting series would take off in the same way as the big screen franchise on which it’s based. We’d say that after four successful seasons of globetrotting and treasure hunting, it’s definitely been a good run. TNT![Halt and Catch Fire]()
Halt and Catch Fire
There was always going to be an endpoint to this series, which tracks the advent and rise of the personal computer in the eighties. Sadly that endpoint came at the end of last year, as the fourth and final season marked its last. AMC![The Mindy Project]()
The Mindy Project
This show had a bit of a tumultuous lifespan, getting cancelled at NBC and then resurrected at Hulu. But through plenty of cast changes, behind-the-scenes shakeups, and plenty of romantic interests, our girl crush Mindy Kaling kept this one alive for six whole seasons. Now we’re kind of sad to see it go.Hulu![Mozart in the Jungle]()

Who knew that what goes on behind-the-scenes at a symphony orchestra could be so dramatic? Through four full seasons this award-winning show opened our eyes to the scripted sex, drugs and classical music that apparently plagues even the best of performers. Amazon![One Mississippi]()

Comedian Tig Notaro seemed like a shoo-in for awards following the debut of this comedy about a woman returning to her hometown to rediscover her past and battle health issues—it is, after all, loosely based on her own life. Sadly, despite critical acclaim the second season also marked the show’s last. Amazon![House of Cards]()
House of Cards
Kevin Spacey may have been great in the role of Frank Underwood, but last year following accusations of sexual misconduct he was promptly fired from the role. Thankfully the show continues with one final season starring Robin Wright, who won more awards for her role as Claire Underwood anyway.Netflix![Scream Queens]()
Scream Queens
It seemed like this kitschy take on horror starring original scream queen herself Jamie Lee Curtis could do no wrong, but then it debuted a second season that had all of us scratching our heads. While (at time of press) a cancellation wasn’t official, it’s basically known at this point.Fox![Turn: Washington’s Spies]()
Turn: Washington’s Spies
It’s hard for period dramas to have a long shelf life, and this American Revolution-set drama is no exception. Despite four satisfying seasons, the tale came to a close last summer, bringing viewers up-to-speed on the inaugural U.S. president’s triumph over the British army.AMC![Veep]()
Veep
Julia Louis-Dreyfus can only win so many awards for her portrayal of former president Selina Meyer, so we imagine that’s why she and fellow producers are ending the HBO series of their own volition following its seventh season this summer. HBO![You’re the Worst]()
You’re the Worst
This dark comedy has often flown under the radar with viewers while being a huge hit with critics—especially for its raw portrayal of depression. That’s why FX is allowing the series to end on its own terms with a fifth and final season this fall. FX
