Last Wednesday, my colleague and I had the opportunity to join an incredible group of breast cancer survivors for some morning dragon boating. Dragon’s Abreast, Toronto’s breast cancer survivor dragon boat team, were kind enough to show us the ropes as we headed for a motivating paddle on Lake Ontario. The event was sponsored by Anita, who design beautiful swimwear and bras specifically for use post mastectomy.
Mary, one of the many inspiring women on the team, told us that Anita provided Dragons Abreast members with post surgery bras outfitted with integrated prosthesis pockets. Anita also designs its own prosthesis, which you can insert into the left, right, or both pockets of the bra cups. The prosthesis not only look natural, but promise to offer complete comfort. But the line doesn’t stop at bras. There’s a whole range of mastectomy bikinis, tankinis and one piece bathing suits, too.
If you are heading to the #pool or #beach, make sure you are in the best fitting suit possible! Jen is modeling this #mastectomy #tankini with prosthesis pockets perfectly captures all the shades of the sea in blue and green. A modern paisley pattern and the high-quality decorative metal rings on the adjustable straps make it a truly luxurious companion for the beach. This is a great fitting suit for women that love a great fitting soft cup #swimsuit. Size range 8-16. Mary continued to explain how the bras really take into consideration a woman’s shape and comfort, especially after their mastectomies. And according to the brand themselves, they aim to “support women affected by breast cancer return to well-being and confidence after having undergone breast surgery.”
Overall, we love what Anita is doing for survivors around the globe. We floored by the strength and openness of the women in Dragons Abreast and believe that they — and any survivor — deserve style and comfort always. Any brand that makes the world of bras and swimsuits a little bit easier, post surgery, is worth talking about.
