They may not be the Oscars, but the Golden Globes are kind of a big deal. Out of all the thousands of shows and movies made in a year, there are only a handful of people who get nominated, after all. It's no wonder that the celebs who have the honour of being honoured get a little excited and take to social media to let us know. TBH we love celebrating with them just as much as we love watching all the cool content they've created. Here are some of the best responses coming out of Monday morning’s nominations.

The raw reactions

Jennifer Lopez definitely turned heads in Hustlers with one of the rawest (not to mention unexpected!) performances she’s ever given. And after her makeup-free video thanking Globes voters for nominating her in a supporting role, we kind of really hope #JennyFromTheBlock takes this. On the other hand, it seems like Christina Applegate was totally not invoking her jaded Dead to Me character with her own reaction, which was equally sweet (even if it wasn’t in video form). Ana de Armas, who got some love for her work on Knives Out, couldn’t hold back the enthusiasm either and had to take some time to process. Same, girl.

Projects with a cause

When the Globes shouted out Charlize Theron and Margot Robbie for their work on Bombshell, it obviously meant a lot to Theron. The film was her passion project, and so the acclaim isn’t lost on her. Although to be fair, would it be lost on anybody? Apparently the nod meant a lot to Sacha Baron Cohen too, and it even validated some of his life choices. High five!

Short but sweet

And then there were the simple acknowledgements—the stars who took the time to say thanks, but then let the project speak for itself. We’re talking about celebs like Cynthia Erivo, who was nominated for leading actress in Harriet. Or Antonio Banderas, who was nominated for Pain and Glory. Or how about Anthony Hopkins, acting like the “sir” that he is? And, judging from the characters she’s played over the years, this reaction was totally on-brand for Russian Doll’s Natasha Lyonne. Don’t worry, new Instagram user Jen Aniston got in on the action too, even if we’re still confused by whether this was staged or not.

And from the heart

How do you not root for Beanie Feldstein, who was nominated for (the totally underrated) Booksmart, after a thanks like this? And then there’s Reese, who gave a shout-out to all of her teams like the boss she truly is. Social media. You have to love having instant access to celebrities in times like these. At the very least, it makes it even harder for us to decide who to root for when the Globes actually air. Thankfully, we still have a few more weeks to mull it all over. The 77th Golden Globe Awards will air Sunday, Jan. 5 on CTV.[video_embed id='1849987']RELATED: The biggest snubs of the 2020 Golden Globe nominations[/video_embed]
