It’s been two years and counting that Kesha has been trying to free herself from her recording contract with Sony and Dr. Luke. She accused the producer of mentally and physically abusing her, alleging that he drugged and sexually assaulted her. He denied the accusations. Last year, a judge threw out Kesha’s suit against Sony but she hasn’t backed down. While the singer dropped a civil case in California against Dr. Luke, her appeal in New York continues. And some potential truth bombs are being dropped, in the form of emails between Dr. Luke and Kesha’s manager, Monica Cornia.
So, Kesha snuck some turkey and Diet Coke while on a juice fast and he whined about it to Cornia in the middle of the night? Dr. Luke also allegedly argued with her about lyrics in “We R Who We R,” not caring about her opinion or what she wanted. And then he alleged that she wasn’t getting work because of her weight. Good grief.
Getty ImagesDr. Luke has denied the latest accusations, with his lawyer, Christine Lepera, telling Billboard that the emails were “out-of-context” and fail to show “the tremendous support that Dr. Luke provided Kesha regarding artistic and personal issues, including Kesha’s own concerns over her weight.” Lepera added that the lyric dispute was “rewritten at Kesha’s request,” and goes on to accuse Kesha’s team of releasing the emails to “mislead by refusing to disclose the larger record of evidence showing the bad faith of Kesha.”
As both sides continue to battle it out, Kesha and Dr. Luke are scheduled to argue their cases with a judge over the phone next week, Vulture reports. Can it please be over soon and these two part ways? Pretty please? For Kesha’s sake.
