Halloween is almost here, but are you ready for the horrors that come with it?

Most of us are accustomed to braving ghoulish house decorations of coffins, bloody daggers or skulls. But what would happen if you encountered — wait for it — a diabolical tennis ball? Oh, such are the horrors that cats deal with on a daily basis, not just around the scariest time of the year. So the next time you find yourself startled by things that go bump in the night, just remember that you’re certainly braver than these sissy scaredy-cats.

1. I know what you did last Wimbledon
It turns out tennis balls — those fuzzy, bright green bouncy orbs of fun — are actually straight-up menacing. They never really appreciate being batted around from paw to paw, and now they’re coming for revenge. Hope your cat has a racket…

2. That long trail of red ink…
Are you terrified of…paper cuts? This cat knows how you feel. Watch out for those sharp edges now, there’s still 12 more pages to go.

3. Boldly go where no cat has gone before (until right now)
Are you sure you want to find out what goes “bump” in the night? Take a deep breath, and watch this brave explorer find out.

4. De Niro would be proud
You talking to me? Are you talking to me?! I don’t see anyone else around here, so you must be talking to me. *extends claws*

5. When stuffed animals attack
These cats played chicken with a harmless bobcat. Long story short? They’re all about to lose.

6. Walking in a winter wonder-what? WAIT. What IS this?
Now this, any Canadian can relate to. It’s quiet outside, too quiet. You peek out your window only to see the thing nightmares are made of. After all, what else could terrify people enough to stay off the street?

7. We’re going to need more catnip
Now sure, we’ve been having fun up until this point. But we’re seriously concerned about this cat. Those red eyes might be the most horrifying thing we’ve ever seen.

There, don’t you feel braver now?

Happy Halloween!
