Why bother with harsh chemicals when you can make your own effective household cleaners with common household items right from your pantry? From all purpose cleaners to scrubs to dish soap, we’ve got you covered with the simplest recipes to make your home (and dishes) sparkle with ease. Not only will these cleaners get the job done, think of all the cash you’ll be able to save and instead, spend on things that don’t involve cleaning.

ALL-PURPOSE CLEANER

The Loop

What you need

  • 10 – 12 citrus peels (lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit)
  • 2 – 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 cups white vinegar

What you do

  1. Gather citrus fruits and peel the skin.
  2. Add the peels to a mason jar.
  3. Add a few sticks of cinnamon to spice it up.
  4. Pour vinegar and cover the peels and cinnamon completely.
  5. Seal and store in a dark place for two weeks.
  6. Strain the citrus vinegar into a spray bottle.
  7. Shake and finish! You can now spray and wipe kitchen and bathroom surfaces with ease.

SCRUB CLEANER

The Loop

What you need

  • approx. 1 cup baking soda
  • ¼ cup castile soap
  • 1 tbsp hydrogen peroxide

What you do

  1. Pour baking soda into a medium bowl.

  3. Add in hydrogen peroxide.
  4. Stir until your mixture looks like a thick glue.
  5. Spoon it into a jar.
  6. Use the scrub with a brush on hard-to-clean areas, rinse and watch surfaces sparkle like new.

DISH SOAP

The Loop

What you need

  • ½ cup distilled water
