Say you’re like really into bananas, and you have the great idea one day to go to a tattoo shop and get a tattoo of a banana. And because it was a whim, you didn’t really research artists, and your banana, your beloved banana, ends up looking more like a penis. You have a few options. You could get a skilled tattooist to fix it or cover it up, or you could go through a lengthy and somewhat painful tattoo removal process.
Or you could save yourself all of this grief by trying the Canadian brand Inkbox, which uses fruit inks that stain the skin and last about two weeks. To get your tattoo, all you have to do is peel the cover off the stencil (which they call an “ink box”), apply to skin and press with a damp towel. Its current formula takes 1.5 to two hours to apply, but the brand’s 2.0 formula (only available on Kickstarter) will only take 10 minutes.
It’s pretty simple, really. And because these organic, fruit-based inks stain the epidermis, they’re not like your average temporary tattoos that dry and flake on top of the skin. This makes them a good way to get inspired, before you commit to the real deal. You can experiment with placement, you can try out different sizes or you could just be a scaredy cat and only use these for the rest of your life. The beauty of Inkbox is, you can. And they’re only $25 a pop. It’s something we bet these celebs wish they had when they were getting their tattoos.
