The real estate market is legitimately insane in urban parts of Canada. Whether you’re in Toronto or Vancouver, for example, it’s impossible to escape bidding wars and astronomical listing prices. Buzzfeed decided to take a look at castles in France to see if they were comparable to prices in Vancouver. Not castles in Vancouver, though, but condos. And you’d think you could get condos for less than gigantic castles, but you’d be wrong. You’d be so very wrong.
Watch the video above to see the French castle with 18 bedrooms and guest cottages that is 1/3 the price of a two-bedroom Vancouver condo. And if you think that’s crazy, there’s also a $1.38 million French castle with nine bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, a library and a horse stable that’s slightly less than a two-bedroom condo in Vancouver with no horses. And lastly, there’s a French castle just one-hour outside of Paris, with 12 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms for $2.66 million. And that is, of course, compared to a Vancouver condo on the market for $3.15 million.
What’s the lesson? If you have millions of dollars, you could live in France. In a castle.
