Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s divorce settlement is getting uglier by the day.

Heard shocked fans when she filed for separation this past May, followed by a request for a restraining order against Depp only five days later. The two A-list actors have now spent most of 2016 saying an awful lot about their separation without actually talking about it.

A video of Depp being verbally abusive towards Heard was leaked online this summer as were pictures of Heard with bruises on her face. The couple still managed to reach a divorce settlement in August, with Depp agreeing to pay Heard $6.8 million. Heard publicly stated she would donate the money to the ACLU and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

In November, Heard partnered with Girl Gaze to film a PSA about domestic abuse, a move that didn’t seem to cause a reaction from Depp’s team. What has caused a reaction is an open letter Heard wrote this month for Porter Magazine, which chronicles her personal experience with domestic abuse. Though Heard doesn’t name her abuser, Depp’s team is now reportedly firing back, claiming Heard violated the confidentiality terms of the divorce settlement.

Depp had already been dragging his pirate boots on paying the settlement, first arguing that he wanted to donate the funds directly. Now it seems that his legal team is using Heard’s Porter Magazine letter to further delay handing over the multi-million dollar settlement. Neither party has made a statement on the proceedings at this point, but it definitely would be nice to see some deserving charities receive a big cheque before the holidays.
