The fountain of youth might be the stuff of legend, but for Emil Ratelband, a 69 year-old Dutch man, it could be within reach. He’s begun a legal battle to legally change his age to 49 years old, since his doctor says he has the body of a 45 year old. Yep, you read that correctly.

And his reason? He claims he can’t get dates on Tinder or get hired as a pensioner at his real age, saying “When I’m 69, I am limited. If I’m 49, then I can buy a new house, drive a different car. I can take up more work. When I’m on Tinder and it say I’m 69, I don’t get an answer. When I’m 49, with the face I have, I will be in a luxurious position.”

Oh. Okay.

He compares changing your age to changing your gender, however the courts say it’s more complicated than that. By changing your age you would be getting rid of 20 years of data on someone and essentially erase real events that took place in those years. He would also be renouncing his pension until he reaches the retirement age… again.

The court will deliver a ruling on the case within four weeks, and while the judge was somewhat sympathetic, he also asked “For whom did your parents care in those years? Who was that little boy back then?”

It seems that this Benjamin Button might be out of time.

Would you legally change your age if you could? Let us know!
