What if we told you that you could make your favourite coats and pants completely waterproof just by rubbing a magic bar of wax over them? Well, brace yourself, because that is exactly what we’re saying. Fjällräven Greenland wax bar is designed to boost the waterproofness of Fjällräven’s G-1000 garments (top tip: you can technically use it on any cotton or cotton/poly fabric — just test a small area first).

Simply rub the wax where you want to stay extra dry, then heat the area with a blowdryer, iron or on an open flame (if you’re outdoorsy like that). According to Fjällräven, most people prefer to wax the seams, shoulders, hoods and knees of their garments, preferring to leave the backs unwaxed for more ventilation (knapsacks can get your back sweaty, folks).

The wax creates a denser fabric that increases its durability and waterproofness, making the item long lasting. Most importantly, it’ll keep you dry as a bone. Tired of the wax? It comes out completely in a few machine washes. And because it’s made from just beeswax and paraffin, it’s an environmentally friendly alternative to chemical means of achieving waterproof garments. A large bar can wax 10 garments, while a small one can do three to four.

If you don’t want to do it yourself, just take your G-1000 garment to any Fjällräven store and they’ll do it for you while you wait. Instant snow pants, anyone?
