It’s a story we’ve, sadly, heard over and over again: Man and woman meet, they fall in love. She thinks her perfect life is set, then chinks in his armour start to show. And then BAM. He hits her. And he thinks it’s okay to hit her, over and over and over again.
Emma Murphy is one of those women, whose seemingly idyllic life was torn apart by domestic violence. In the most recent incident (there were many), he thought she deserved a punch in the face because she confronted him about his cheating.
And that was all it took.
The 26-year-old now-single mother of two wanted to raise awareness about violence against women and remind the world that “no man has the right to put his hand on a woman.” Murphy is done hiding, done being treated like a punching bag, done being a victim and, thankfully, for her and her kids’ safety and well-being, she’s done with him.
“It’s unacceptable. But to be made to feel that it is acceptable is even worse.”
