World class chefs with cooking shows and best selling books have just about every high-end tool that’s ever been made for a kitchen at their disposal. But thanks to a new video from chef Alton Brown, we also know they have some cheap and helpful hacks under their chef’s hat–using materials you definitely have in your own kitchen.

The culinary star has just uploaded a useful hack to his Facebook page, showing how to easily squeeze a lime in the most convenient way possible (and without any mess whatsoever).

Rather than buy a fancy lime or lemon squeezer, simply slice the fruit in half, cover it in plastic wrap, cut a small hole in the wrap and squeeze! As Brown notes in the video, the lime juice will now go exactly where you want it (through the hole that you cut), instead of in your eye or all over the counter. So long sticky hands!

With most lime squeezers ranging between $14 – $25, this hack means more money for buying limes, or food and drinks that go well with limes.

But the hack isn’t done there. Now your fruit is already covered and ready to go back in the fridge until the next time your meal or drink needs a little spritz of citrus. Say goodbye to fishing seeds out of your drinks and salads and say hello to one ridiculously easy hack.
