Atlas the Rabbit is looking for a forever home, but not just any home. The continental giant rabbit, who currently weighs 35 pounds, will need a dog-sized hutch to live in, not to mention a lot of food and affection.
We first heard about dear seven-month-old Atlas when news broke that his owners in Scotland gave him up to the SPCA because he was too much to handle–and understandably so. The rabbit is the size of a terrier, but could grow over four-feet-long and weigh over 50 pounds.
Earlier this week the Scottish SPCA put a call out to anyone who wants to welcome this giant Atlas into their home.
“We are looking for a specific home for Atlas due to his breed and size,” said the centre’s manager Anna O’Donnell in the Facebook post. “He is a very friendly rabbit who loves attention and getting cuddles. Atlas is also an inquisitive boy who makes everyone laugh with his mischievous character.”
The response to the post was so huge, the Scottish SPCA had to amend their post, stating that people outside of Scotland couldn’t adopt big ol’ Atlas because of logistics. Sigh.
