Chanel has released a new ad for its new fragrance Chanel Chance Au Vive, and it’s quite stunning.
The ad repeatedly asks us to take a chance, so that’s exactly what we did. We watched the video (above), and here are some crucial flaws of this particular ad, which is inspired by something that does not at all resemble bowling as we know it:
You Can’t Wear Street Shoes At a Bowling Alley
The soles of street shoes scuff up the polished floors of lanes, which is why you are required to pay an additional fee to rent shoes from a bowling alley. Not only that, but street shoes (like the heels worn by the models in this ad) are a lane hazard, and they easily stick to the floor, leaving people at risk of falling, or careening down the lane. Not only are these shoes inaccurate, they’re super-unsafe.
You can’t have liquid on lanes
And for good reason. Liquid on shoes will make you slip, and if you slip on the lane, the establishment is responsible. Not only that, but you could seriously hurt yourself. The lanes are already slippery, but add your own liquid and that place is a slip-and-slide from hell. So, this video is also promoting frowned-upon behaviour that could result in your hospitalization.
Pins and balls are different
Anyone who has ever bowled will know that the object you’re hurling down a glossy lane is not the same thing you’re hitting at the other end. It literally doesn’t make sense any other way.
Bowling is a cheap thing to do
Look, bowling is something you reserve for cheap, fun dates or for a night out with friends. For the amount of money going into glass perfume jar balls and glass perfume jar pins, you’d need to be a billionaire who is willing to literally throw their money in the garbage to keep this place running. And we can’t imagine anyone could afford to play this game, either!
But at the end of the day, whether it’s so far from reality or not, at least these women, dressed in coordinating skirts, crop tops and button-up, cropped jackets had a good time.
