It’s a season of nippy nights, so you’ll need something that’s going to stick to your ribs. There seems no greater remedy than Joshua Groom’s other choice cocktail, a hot cider-buttered rum hybrid that’s creamy and smooth, and packed full of wintry flavours. Serves 1.

What you need

  • 1.5 oz. Chic Choc rum
  • 4 oz. apple cider
  • 0.5 oz. orange juice
  • 2 dashes of vanilla extract
  • 0.5 oz. salted butter (room temperature)

How it’s made

  1. Set butter aside.
  2. Put all other ingredients in a small pot and cook until it reaches a heavy steam.
  3. Add butter to the hot liquid and stir.
  4. Pour into a glass.
