You know what’s a menace to ocean floors? No, it’s not scary fish, an octopus or even a shark. It’s plastics, from bottles, from microbeads (found in beauty products) that don’t break down and even those 6-ring can-holders that keep your beers together. Ocean plastics are a problem. They’re hazardous to aquatic life and they’re making oceans as we know them literal heaps of garbage.

But Pharrell Williams (yes, that Happy guy) is helping to change this. As Creative Director of Bionic Yarn, he takes ocean plastic fibres and spins them together with cotton to form a new type of thread called DPX. It’s strong and it’s soft, and you’d never know you were wearing garbage. That’s an amazing thing, and it totally deserves a high five. Check out Bionic Yarn’s latest collection for G Star Raw, and try to see if you can even tell if its made of junk in the ocean.
